GSE hands over a new packaging and storage plant to Sainte Lucie

GSE has just handed over a new spice packaging and storage plant to Sainte Lucie, a French family-run food company that manufactures, packages and distributes savoury and sweet cooking ingredients. The new 12,000 m² facility is located in the Alata Technology Park in Verneuil-en-Halatte, north of Paris.

To keep pace with growing demand, the company needed to reorganise its real estate to increase its production and storage capacity. Set on a 5-hectare plot of land, the 12,350 m2 complex comprises a 3,400 m2 mixing and packaging area, 8,000 m2 of storage space, 400 m2 of plant rooms and 550 m2 of offices and social areas.

Strongly focused on environmental responsibility, the project boasts excellent energy performance – far beyond the requirements of the French RT2012 thermal standard. Indeed, its energy consumption is more than 85% below the regulatory thresholds, thanks to the quality of the building envelope and of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

Aiming to be exemplary, the project is rated ENERGIE 3 / CARBONE 1 according to the French E+C- label. It anticipates the criteria of the RE2020 environmental standard – even though it doesn’t apply to this site. A 500 KWc solar farm was installed over 1,900 m² of the roof. All the power produced by this equipment during the site’s operating hours is self-consumed, while electricity produced after hours is fed back into the grid. The buildings are surrounded by more than 3 hectares of landscaped gardens.
